1. Permanent staff
NCIT manages a team of permanent interpreters and translators in English and French, recruited and regularly supplemented through examinations conducted by MOFA.
Currently, a team of nearly 20 senior staff is responsible for all interpretation and translation services. These include the translation of (national documents, letters used in diplomacy) and interpretation (escort interpretation for leaders of the Party, the State, the Government and the National Assembly at domestic and diplomatic events, foreign visits and international events). Given their vast invaluable professional experiences, they also serve as lecturers in training courses organized by the Center.
The cadres have undergone long-term training programs, including fundamental training on profession, languages and interpretation-translation skills. All have graduated from prestigious institutions at home and abroad such as Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University, National University, etc. Some have been trained on interpretation and translation at professional institutions such as ITC Center (English), Sorbonne University’s CFIT Center located in the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (French), European Commission’s Directorate General for Interpretation. Depending on their capacity and individual needs, on a annual basis, the Center’s staff are also sent abroad for further training (in the UK, France, USA, Australia, Japan, etc.).
Thanks to a team of qualified and experienced translators and interpreters, the Center has successfully completed all assigned tasks. Generations of interpreters always stand ready to perform at national and international events such as National Party Congress, sessions of the National Assembly, major national events, seminars and conferences within the framework of ASEAN, APEC, WTO, ASEM, Francophone International, Viet Nam Development Forum- CG, etc.
Given its capacity and prestige, the Center is capable of performing at international events of all scales and levels.
2. Network of regular collaborators
The Center’s network of regular collaborators was established in 2009 to fulfill urgent requirements to interpret and translate other foreign languages besides English and French, and to provide services for leaders at diplomatic events.
Network members are MOFA’ desk officers working in various departments. They all possess excellent foreign language skills, extensive experiences and/or fundamental training in translation and interpretation. Biannually, in order to earn a professional qualification, each member need to go through a certification process executed by the Ministry’s Appraisal Council. The Network always maintains close to 50 members of interpreters and translators in 20 different languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Mongolian, Burmese, Laos, Khmer, etc.
Members are categorized into two groupings. Group 1 includes senior interpreters for leaders, Heads of State and Government, and those who could provide simultaneous interpretation at international conferences. Group 2 includes those who could provide regular commercial interpretation. Since its inception, the Network has provided translation and interpretation for high-level delegations as well as provincial external activities across the country.
3. Network of irregular collaborators
Besides regular collaborators, NCIT could mobilize a large number of interpreters of multiple foreign languages. They are experienced and prestigious interpreters, translators, lecturers working for other agencies, including universities, embassies and international organizations.
