NCIT is responsible to provide interpretation and translation services during diplomatic activities of leaders of the Party, State and Ministry of Foreign Affairs; as well as to other ministries, agencies and organizations upon request; acts as a focal point to chair and implement standardization of translation and interpretation nationwide.
The Center’s specific duties and powers include:
- Provide interpretation services for leaders of the Party, State and Ministry of Foreign Affairs during their diplomatic activities; at international conferences, seminars and other external activities as assigned by the Ministry leadership.
- Translate and edit official documents of the Party, State and MOFA.
- Assist the Minister of Foreign Affairs in performing the State administration of translation and interpretation.
- Participate in training, recruiting and foreign language proficiency testing for MOFA’s civil servants and employees.
- Provide interpretation and translation services for ministries, agencies, localities and other social organizations in need.
- Prepare and execute the implementation of State sponsored training projects on interpretation and translation.
- Participate in upgrading professional interpretation and translation skills for officials of ministries, agencies, localities and other social organizations in need.
- Act as a focal point to set national standardization of and foster international cooperation in translation and interpretation.
- Organize courses to train and retrain managers, interpreters, translators and implement policies for officials and employees under the management of the Center.
- Exercise autonomy and self-accountability in asset management, financial expenditure, management and use of payrolls for public service providers in accordance with the law and MOFA’s decentralization of management.
- Perform other duties assigned or authorized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
