Training for aspiring interpreters remains NCIT’s key operation. Tailor-made programs are available on demand. Courses are designed to fit customers’ qualifications and fields of expertise where intensive sessions on interpreting and linguistic skills are provided.

A number of courses are offered, including:

  • Language enhancement: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Theory of translation and interpretation: nature, methodologies, and desirable skills.
  • Translation: reading for gist, summarizing, text analysis, creating document outline, translating and editing.
  • Consecutive interpretation: preparation, listening, memorizing, note-taking, and reproducing  in target language.
  • Booth interpretation: familiarizing with the booth and other equipments, simultaneous speaking and listening, anticipating speakers’ speech based on logical reasoning.

These courses aim to help trainees improve language proficiency, understand principles and requirements of their work so as to choose the most effective self-training/learning methods, particularly to practice and acquire translation and interpretation skills.

All courses will be guided by coaches with firsthand experiences in translation, interpretation and pedagogy. Priority is given to practicing sessions, in which coaches will construct scenarios likely to happen in actual situations.

Courses can be offered based on:

  • Demands from organizations and agencies wishing to train (upskill, reskill, etc.) their employees.
  • Call for registration, any individual wishing to study could join.

Before entering a course, all trainees must take entrance test and meet certain criteria.
